Broadband Noise: Tape hiss, 60 Hz hum, and leftover noise from the restoration process.

6-De’s (in the order of when each process is done)
1. De-scratch: very long scratches on vinyl which result in super loud clicks. Usually longer in time duration ( 7 thousandths of a second or more).
2. De-click*: loud clicks, which are a result, from light scratches on the vinyl. Shorter in duration (less than 7 thousandths of a second).
3. De-crackle:
small, barely measurable hair-line clicks, the sound you commonly hear
when you place the
needle on the record at the beginning. It is usually .throughout the song.
4. De-noise: broadband noise/tape hiss.
5. De-hum:
ground loop. Background humming sound found on old vinyl, usually from
original engineering problems.
7. De-ess:
the process of removing a sound called a vocal sibilant. This can be
described as the sound produced by ripping a sheet of paper. It is
commonly produced when a vocalist sings S's and T's. De-essing brings
such sounds down to a more listenable level.
* Some of this process is done
manually on down to the sample level by LP2CD Solutions,
Ltd. for a nominal charge of $20.00 per hr. Normal studio rate for this
elsewhere would be $100.00 per hr. or more. This ensures superior
quality from us, unlike our competitors that use 1 automatic
de-clicking process exclusively, which fails to eliminate all of the
flaws and actually takes away alot of the music from the use of
inferior
restoration software, applied in brutally heavy settings, and making
multiple
passes over your songs. This causes the sound to be of inferior quality.
